Keeping on.
Well, I didn’t get my run on last Thursday, as promised. It ended up being bitterly cold, and I was freezing my face off just taking the dog around the block. By Saturday morning, however, it has warmed up, so I ran then.
Today I ran at work, during lunch. I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to get ready and then shower afterwards, so I just did a quick one – not even 3 miles – but the good news is that I am a speed demon when it comes to getting ready and cleaning up, so I should be able to get 3.5 – 4 miles in without too much trouble. It’s those 1:00 meetings that will do me in. Luckily, there are not many of them in my calendar.
So yeah, I am going to try to run again on Weds, Thurs, and Saturday.
The eating thing has been pretty good. I allowed myself to splurge a little (ok, a lot) on Friday night with some Chinese food, but Rob ate all the leftovers and I was back on track the next day. Last night I made these delicious salmon cakes w/ green beans & sesame rice, and I made a potato leek soup to bring for lunches this week. The soup isn’t completely creamy, but it’s not low fat either. As long as I don’t go nutty with the bread, it should be fine.
Even Rob has been trying to eat better, which is awesome. Still, he did eat his own weight in Chinese food over the weekend. :)
No commentsHappy New Year!
I don’t like to make resolutions, per se, but I do like to set goals and say my aspirations aloud. That said, I’d like to accomplish the following in 2008:
- Run a half marathon and/or the 20K New Haven Road Race
- Do some overnight backpacking, or even some challenging day hikes
- Make more art. Hell, make SOME art.
- Watch less TV & spend that time either running, doing sewing/knitting, or making art
- Be a better friend
- Take another class or two at Harvard, or the Museum School
- Fuel myself better for running, and in doing so, eat better and lose a few pounds
It’s January 2nd, and I am on a roll, people.
Yesterday I talked with Elissa, a friend of mine who I’ve been trying to find the time to catch up with. I did some knitting. I ran before some other friends came over for BBQ. When eating said BBQ, I had a small serving of everything, except for the huge serving of sauteed swiss chard, didn’t drink too much, and ate reasonably later on.
Today I ate a good breakfast, brought a very healthy (and delicious) lunch of vegetarian chili, string cheese, and an apple, and had a small square of dark chocolate just now. When I get home from class tonight, I plan on making some homemade energy bars for the days when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to make a real breakfast. The homemade ones are so much less sweet and better for you, and I keep them in the freezer.
I also got a nice jump start for the week by working on Monday, and did a bunch of things to improve my workflow and organization. Also, I cleaned my desk, which was disgusting.
I’m feeling very satisfied and positive right now. If When I get my run in tomorrow, it will be even better.
I hope that all of my running and blogging friends accomplish their goals in 2008. I know you all can do it. You’re total badasses. :)
