Dr Green said…
That I should stop running for another few weeks.
“HA,” I said. “That’s a good one. Do you know how much weight I will gain in the month of December if I stop running? Exactly 457 lbs!”
Dr. Green laughed his ass off, as he tends to do when I use hyperbole.
Then he told me to only run 3x per week and gave me some meds – a lower dose steroid than I had been on, previously. I put my feet on a flatbed scanner, paid my $425 (yikes) and will have new orthotics in about 3 weeks.
“Runners,” he said. “You guys are all a little nutty.”

So here it is. New haircut. I like it, but now that it’s growing out I’m not sure if I want to keep it this way. Thoughts? Opinions? Do I look like a boy? What about if I have lipstick on and a sassy outfit? *sigh*
And on and on with the bursitis
I went back to the doctor about a month ago and got another round of steroids for my bursitis, which went away for a while and is now back. *sigh*
Tomorrow I go in for a cortisone shot and to get fitted for new orthotics. Hallelujah.
I had taken some time off from running after my last 10K (Boston Firefighters Run about a month ago), but last week I started running again because I was:
a) tired of not running
b) tired of being a royal biotch because of not running
c) getting fat
So I don’t really know what to do about my foot, I guess. I’m only running 3 miles, 3x a week, which seems to not bother me too much (although the pain is still there), and I’ve started riding the trainer to compensate for extra calories and lower miles. Hopefully the new orthotics will help and eventually I will get better. My right foot, where I originally had the bursitis, has been fine for some time now, so there is hope.
I just can’t get my head around being laid up for months, trying to get back into running after nearly 4 months off like last time. Just thinking about that is so depressing. I’d love to do some longer races next year, or maybe another tri, and I’m frustrated that there is something wrong with me. Stupid biomechanics. Be less wrong. :(
