PSA: This is Charley
This video is so sweet. I loooooove Charley, and he makes me wish I could adopt another cat. Anyway, just a little PSA about his condition, cerebellar hypoplasia. Hope it helps to bring some awareness to it.
There’s also this place called The Rolling Dog Ranch, where disabled animals are fostered. They do good work.
1 commentHacked! Gah!
Sorry about the down time. My whole site got hacked and all kinds of files were overwritten, which sucks. I am still trying to locate my backups, as every index page on the site was affected, and I had to reinstall WordPress, too. Anyway, at least the blog is back.
Rode about 22 miles on Saturday, down into Dover and whatnot. That was cool, albeit muggy. It’s beautiful down there, and if I had millions of dollars to spend on a house, it is for sure where we would live. :)
I was supposed to go out for 40, but it started to get dark and rain a bit, so I turned around and headed home. By the time I got back, it was sunny. *sigh* But the ride was great. I felt good and, other than my stupid cleats coming loose (and having to stop and readjust them with my trusty multi-tool), all went well. I was a little sore on Sunday from the hills, but nothing a little stretching and water couldn’t fix.
On Wednesday, I’ll be biking to work. It’s only about 9 miles each way, but sadly, it’s all uphill on the way home.
No commentsOne Year
Today is the 12th, and it was one year ago that we moved into our house. What a crazy day it was, too. The movers had come on the 11th, packed all of our belongings into a truck, took them away, and we spent the night in a hotel. The next day, we checked out of the hotel, went to the closing on the condo in Lowell, got our check, drove to Boston and did the closing on the house, drove to the house, and sat around for only 20 minutes or so before the movers showed up. Like clockwork. And it didn’t really rain until after the last box was moved in.
Oh my gosh, it feels like it was just yesterday that all of that happened, including the little details like Rob being so nervous about the condo closing that he almost puked. Good times. :)
So what has happened in that year?
Well, we painted the living room, dining room and our bedroom. We hung drapes and shades in those rooms. We worked in the yard, nearly killed the grass and brought it back again, and planted a vegetable garden. We fixed some small things. We decorated. Bo came to live with us. Fred got used to Bo living with us. I quit one job and started another. I made some new friends. Rob started poker night. We ran together on new routes. I ran by myself on new routes. Rob started playing hockey in Newton & Natick. We had to learn a whole other section of town and how to drive in it. We grilled out and ate on the deck all the time. We had a New Year’s Eve party. Friends came to stay. We laughed a lot. And we didn’t kill each other. :)
Happy anniversary, house!
1 commentThanks, y’all.
Thanks for the warm welcome back. I still have to update my blog lists (which includes adding Sylveter Stein – hello!) and make a new header image to replace the stock one, but all in good time.
Running update: It’s humid out and running sucks. But I did run this week, and will run again this week, without foot pain. Sweet.
I’ve also been trying to decipher this entrelac scarf pattern and figure out why it won’t work for me. Probably because I am dumb at knitting. *sigh* I get the bottom 3 triangles done, flip the knitting to the WS, and then it tells me to knit again? What? The first 3 rows of the new triangle make no sense to me. Knit 1, flip it, shouldn’t I purl then? But no, I KFB. Let me just throw another acronym in here: WTF?
Grrr.
1 commentNew. Shiny. Different!
So it’s been a while since I’ve updated my old blog on typepad, and honestly, with Dreamhost’s lovely one-click install of WordPress, it was thinking, “why am I paying for Typepad?” Anyway. I’m moving the blog here, and expanding it a bit to include other things that are going on in my life, because I have to level with you – running just hasn’t been a big part of it for some months now.
There’s a reason for this, of course. It’s not that I don’t love running or don’t have time for it… well, not really, although it sometimes feels as if I have no time at all to squeeze running in after walking Bo, or trying to train Bo to, you know, actually run with me instead of stopping to sniff and pee every 5 seconds.
But I digress.
I haven’t been running much because back in February I developed a horrible case of bursitis in my foot, and after months of ice, NSIDs and comfortable shoes, I finally had an MRI and then a series of steriod meds and cortisone shots. Brilliant.
The silver lining in all of this, however, is that I have spent a lot of time retraining Bo, as well as knitting, drawing, and working on some home projects that have needed tending to. I started a vegetable garden and began composting. I’ve been baking bread and making cakes, and I’ve also started sewing again. And because of all these things, I’m feeling very creatively nourished, which is something I haven’t felt in a long while.
Anyway, here’s to the new blog and old loves.
