Why I hate the cat, part 473.
I hate my cat. I mean, I love him, but I hate him. You know how it is. Now Dianna will read this and say "awwwww, poor Fred," but make no mistake, Fred is a bastard more than 60% of the time, so don’t fall for his cute fat cat bullshit, because that’s just what he wants.
I had a pretty good day yesterday, starting out with a nice run, working from home, talking with Jeff on IM, and getting a lot of work done besides. So when Rob came home, I asked for some help with the cat, cutting Fred’s claws, actually, because he had been snagging the quilt and my shirt whenever he decided to "make bread" and "air hump", as he is wont to do.
Oh, did I never mention the air humping? It’s just another reason he’s an unbearable freak. He has this fleece blanket he likes, and he’ll jump up on the couch and knead it like bread dough, putting his head up tight against the back cushions, and purring loudly. It’s like he’s in a trance. Then, he’ll do a little pelvic thrust every 3 or 4 kneads of the blanket. And he drools while this is happening. Anyway, he’ll do that for maybe 20 minutes if you let him, and then he jumps off the couch and licks his weiner. In the middle of the living room, for all to see. He likes to do this when we have company, I should mention. *sigh*
So I get the clippers out, and I should mention that I have never cut his claws too short – not even once – and he freaks. So Rob wraps him up in the blanket and is all nice and petting him and speaking soothing words, and I’m like, "goddammit, just sit still, you freaking douchbag." To the cat, not Rob. I get one claw away from being finished and that cat lunges at my hand, biting me HARD. I pull the blanket up over his head, and clip the last claw, then let him go. He goes and sits in the kitchen and waits for a treat. Nuh-uh, buddy. You bit me. Forget it.
I now have a swollen hand and several puncture wounds where he bit, twice, and wouldn’t let go.
To add insult to injury, Rob forgot to shut the bedroom door, so Fred was up all night, racing up and down the hall, hunting socks from the laundry basket, digging at the closet door, and knocking stuff of my desk. At 3:21, I got up and shut our bedroom door, and he cried for about 10 minutes. At 5:30, when my alarm went off, so I could go run? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I slept right through that and missed my run entirely. At 6:30 though, who do you think was in my face 5 seconds after Rob got up and opened the bedroom door?
Yep, that gray & white pain in the ass. And I couldn’t be mad at him. Stupid cat.
Guess I’ll just have to run later.

So, I’ve been running. Cool.
And it being summer and all, I’ve started getting up at 5:30 or 5:45 (whenever I naturally wake up, I guess) to start my runs before 6:00, which leaves me plenty of time to run 3 miles and still get ready for my stupid commute, wherein I leave the house at 7:20 or so.
I’ve never been a morning runner, but it’s been getting a lot easier, and I’m rather proud of myself for getting out there before Rob is even up, before the roads are jammed with cars, and before it gets too miserable outside, relegating me to a treadmill run (yuck) or no run at all. I’m still slow, but I’m out there, getting it done.
Other than that, we’ve been dealing with condo stuff, and mortgage stuff, and about 8 million forms I need to find, have faxed, sign, and whatnot. I have a to-do list a mile long, and the whole buying and selling at the same time (and closing ON THE SAME DAY) is stressing me to the max.
So it’s good that I’m running. That’s my point, I guess. :)

So I realize it’s been over a month (eek!) since I last posted, but I have a really, really good excuse!
We sold my condo and bought a house!!!!!
Well, we’re selling and buying right now, on the same day, actually. But that’s the scoop. In 30 days we will be moving.
The good:
It’s a lovely, lovely house. I will post some pictures once we’re moved in, but it’s a dutch gambrel, close to town, which means my commute will be SOOOO much shorter. Like half the time, people, so this is a serious improvement.
The bad:
It’s expensive. And we didn’t get quite what we wanted on the condo.
The ugly:
I’ve been so whipped up over the negotiations, fixing things, financials, packing, and general worrying that I haven’t run much. Spinning? Check. Swimming? Check. Running? Not so much.
But I did run 3 slow miles at 6am today, so it’s not all bad.
Missed you guys. I am trying to catch up on the blogs right now, in fact.
