Mid-week update

I’m up in my office, scanning some slides for a friend, and cooling down after my 3 miler with Rob. I’ve already scarfed down a bowl of Cinnamon Puffins w/1% milk and life is pretty freakin’ sweet right now. In short, my run was awesome. It was just one of those days I guess, and I really can’t complain.

This weekend was pretty fantastic, too. I’ll just throw that in there, since I’m obviously full of superlatives today. Rode Friday, ran Saturday and Sunday, did some yoga, stretched a bunch, had Easter with Rob’s family and didn’t steal any candy from his neice and nephew. I did, however, drink a lot of wine, family gatherings being what they are and all.

And now it’s a new week. I’ve got another run scheduled tomorrow, a ride on Friday, swim on Saturday, and a run on Sunday (yesterday was my rest day – I’m mixing it up).

Yeah, it’s good.

So now I have to finish up these slides, burn a CD of them, take a shower, and call my sister to find out what kind of baby she’s having. It’s human; that’s all I know. :)

Ride #1 of the season

So Thursday night with Jeff, his lovely wife, Susie, Jank, and the running chicks was just awesome. Dianna threw a great party and I was so happy I could make it.

Got home at 12:30am, however, and paid for it yesterday. I was just generally sluggish and exhausted, so I figured, hey, a ride on the rail trail will pick me right up. And you know what? It did? For a time anyway. But I was asleep on the couch at 9:30 last night. Heh.

It was a beautiful day yesterday, about 72 and sunny. I decided to put my clipless pedals back on the bike (and the cleats on my new shoes) and ride the rail trail to get used to the feeling of clipless again. I think there’s no going back at this point, and that’s cool. I’ll just have to figure out the logistics for my tri, I guess, and practice transitions more than I did last year, because my transition times were pretty terrible. Anyway, with moving things into storage, I couldn’t find my pedal wrench! Or my grease! So I contemplated going to the bike shop and asking them to put the pedals on for me, but then decided to say screw it and just ride with the regular ones, because the rail trail is pretty flat anyway.

Had a great 22 mile ride, then stopped at the storage unit on my way back. Found the grease, but not the wrench, which I think is in the house somewhere, and grabbed some Bun (Vietnamese noodle salad) for takeout on the way home. Mmmmmmm-MMMMM!!!

Not bad for the first ride of the season, although all I could think about was how many rides I’d need to do in order to drop 10 lbs. Ugh.

I am hoping the rain will let up so I can go out again today… hopefully with clipless pedals this time. So now I’m off to find my wrench. Wish me luck. :)

It’s here!

Guess what? (Don’t say, "Chicken butt.")

Triathlon training season starts today, that’s what! And I am pumped. PUMPED, I say! I have spinning class tonight and will run tomorrow and Thursday, ride on Friday, run some more. Woot!

Other than that, I’m headed to Dianna’s on Thursday, Beth’s Mom’s Famous Chocolate Cake(tm) in hand.
